Sr. High Summer Bible Studies

Hey There,

I’m excited to update you today on two great opportunities for growth and friendship starting next Sunday, July 15th from 9:45-10:45 at Surfside UMC . One for girls and one for boys. Let’s look at each one of them:

FOR GIRLS

Girl Talk is a great bible study for girls that talks about the power of words.

As you know, a lot of our girls are having to navigate a tricky road when it comes to relationships. Dealing with gossip, trash talk,  and abuse is not easy for anyone. But it seems like if your between the ages of 13-18, things are just tougher. This study sets out to help girls find tools to handle it all from a biblical perspective.

Regina Altman and Chris Conness (both youth parents and part of our Youth Ministry Team) will be leading  the study. All Sr. High girls are invited, and all they need to do is show up at the Family Life Center (GYM) Sunday morning at 9:45. By the way, several of our Sr. High drive to church now. So if transportation is an issue, please let me know and we’ll figure something out.

BOYS

Seven Daily Sins is a great study aimed at boys. It’s all about the stuff guys deal with on a daily basis. The things that keep us from enjoying our relationship with God and our lives to the fullest.

The world around tends to set us up to try and find fulfillment in all the wrong places. By looking at God’s word, we will be guided towards ways to avoid those pitfalls and to live intentionally.

Harry Altman will lead this study with the boys. He’s already well known by our Sr. High guys. They also meet at the Family Life Center (GYM) Sunday morning at 9:45. All Sr. High boys are invited. All you need to do is show up! By the way, several of our Sr. High drive to church now. So if transportation is an issue, please let me know and we’ll figure something out.

Feel free to post questions or comments below. We’d love to hear from you!

Blessings,

Youth Ministry Team

Impressions From Salkehatchie (part 2)

Did you like what you saw and read in our last post? I hope so, because more kids have sent pictures and one liners about their experience this week. Here they are:

“I'm homesick, tired, and have sweat more this week than I have all year. But this week was well worth it. Our site is finished and a house is now a home” (Kayla Lilly)

“This week has been great. And better things are yet to come” (Conor O'Brien)

“My week rocks! That's my “one line statement”. (Jayme Adams)

“God is bringing everyone so close [together], and He's making miracle right in front of us” (Katie Gamble)

Seems like this has been a great year for our Sr. High kids at Salkehatchie! Thanks for your support!

Blessings,

Paulo Lopes
